 Good generic replacement for OEM battery August 3, 2010

This battery seems to work fine with Panasonic DMC-ZR1. I have Version 1.0 of the firmware. I am not sure what everyone is talking about when they mention a new version. I don't see any new version of firmware at the Panasonic website. Shipping is a bit high for such a small item, but I did receive the item very quickly. If it can hold a charge, and take more photos than the OEM battery, I might change it to 5 stars.

Panasonic wants you to use ONLY their batteries in their equipment, so they can charge you more for them. This battery circumvents this problem. The camera identifies this battery as an original one and works as if it were. A must for any-one wanting a spare battery for their camera.

I have been frustrated by Panasonic's firmware that prevented the use of any battery other than their own - which has been outrageously priced. I was happy to find this battery, with several testimonies that it worked with Panasonic cameras. I had purchased another non-Panasonic battery that was supposed to work, but didn't, so while optimistic, I also wondered whether this one would work, or be like the other, and briefly boot-up, then give me a message saying it was "incompatible". I ordered it and received it very quickly, charged it, inserted it into our ZR-1, turned it on, and was pleasantly surprised to find it works!
If you're looking for a reasonably priced battery instead of the Panasonic branded gold nugget, this one will do the trick.

This battery was advertised as being compatible with the new firmware in my Panasonic DMC-ZS3 camera.
I have been using the battery for about a month, and it appears to be compatible in every respect and
completely interchangeable with the original Panasonic battery. It is as advertised, and delivery was
very prompt.
