This camera was bought for my wife as a spur of the moment 11th anniversary present. She loves it. Though she did not use it in the pool for 3 months because of bad reviews. At first she only used it on dry land as a point and shoot camera. When she finally used it at the pool she loved the photos and so did the kids.
Then, last week she jumped quickly in the pool and flooded the camera. We noted the battery door had come open. She claims user error. Being in a hurry to jump in the water. (Jumping in the water and most water proof cameras advise against diving into the water.) Plus she thinks the camera battery door might have bumped directly when she jumped in.
She was very unhappy so she bought a 25 dollar waterproof camera (actually a camera that comes in a case) and I bought her a replacement FujiFilm XP from the store. We were able to take these ones on our vacation to St. Augustine. However, Neither of them meet her expectations. (Though the Fuji does have sound with it's videos.)
My wife returned from our vacation this morning and grabbed her old vivitar putting in batteries and a sd card. She booted it up and discovered. Yes, After letting it sit and dry out. The camera does boot up.
The LCD screen is a bit messed up and the FLASH no longer works.
It still takes photos and she now wants to take it back to the pool to try to capture some underwater moments with her vivitar that took a flooding and kept working.
BTW No it did not ruin our 4GB SD card. Yes It was very flooded. I noticed that it was flooded because I had been underwater looking at her and saw water in the lenses area when she was looking to boot up and take my photo.
Yes, I will post photos when I can that are taken with my wife's camera and her permission.
This has turned out to be a good gift and spur of the moment buy.
 Better than a disposable waterproof camera July 26, 2010

I wanted a cheap waterproof camera that I could take with us on vacation. We were going to an indoor waterpark, so I needed a camera that had a flash (which I could not find in the disposable waterproof ones) and I didn't want to spend a lot of money-just in case it was stolen. I was hesitant to purchase this one after reading the reviews, but I found it at Wal Mart for $80 and decided to give it a try. Let me start off by saying that the outdoor shots I took turned out pretty decent. I got a few really good indoor shots, but most of them were somewhat blurry-I do have 2 active kids, so I don't think that helped. In my opinion, I'd rather have blurry shots than no shots at all.
I did take 1 or 2 pictures underwater, but they didn't turn out because my child wouldn't stay under long enough. The camera did go underwater several times, but only for 30 seconds at a time, so I can't really report on how it does for extended periods of time under water-ie: snorkeling.
It did not leak as some other reviews mentioned and it's still working. I still have the original (disposable) batteries in it and they haven't run down yet-I took approximately 90 pictures in a 2 day period.
It does have a 1 or 2 second delay once you hit the button, but you just have to learn that you can't move the camera until the live screen is back up. This really is not a big deal-I don't think. Also, don't expect to take rapid photos with this camera.
The flash really is not that good, but it's obviously better than not having a flash.
Don't expect to use this as an everyday camera-it's a good substitute when you're going to the pool or the waterpark and you want to get pictures without worrying about ruining your good camera or having it stolen.
The quality of the pictures is definitely better than a disposable camera, but in no way are they professional quality.
The camera is also fairly easy to use.

I don't know what those of you who have given this a bad review are talking about! I LOve this camera. We just took it to the beach and had hours of fun! It lags a little before you take the shot, but once you know that you can adjust to it! It is super easy to use and the picture quality is excellent!
The only negative I have is when you zoom in all the way, sometimes it does not focus on far away things as well, but that is a minor inconvenience.

This camera is great for the money. There is about a one second delay, but I found that it wasn't that big of a problem. Once printed, the pictures were even better than we expected. The color quality is great, the zoom feature works great, and it's lights and easy to carry.
